Waam Base Shampoo & Mask Review

Today I would like to introduce you to my new hair product crush……..the Neutral Basis range from Waam. I have been lustfully spying on Waam’s products for ages now and desperately wanted to try them out as I have heard so many great things about them on social media. Impressively for me though, I managed to be a proper adult for once and show some restraint and wait until I had time to test and review them properly on my blog!

Waam is a natural beauty brand that not only produce the Neutral Basis range but also a selection of raw products, carrier oils, clays, butters and floral waters. Their products are certified organic and vegan and are of course not tested on animals. The core idea behind this range is that you buy the base and then customise it to your specific requirements to create your own bespoke products. If you are a fan of natural beauty and homemade cosmetics then I am pretty sure you’ll treasure this brand just as much as I do! I absolutely love unearthing amazing little discoveries like this!

So, after several months of waiting, salivating and finally testing it is definitely time for me to do a review………oh and also I have included 2 brilliant cheeky little recipes to help grow your hair faster!

Shampoo Basis Without Sulfate

This shampoo base is 100% natural and formulated without sulfate. You can of course use it just as it is but it soars to new heights when embellished with active ingredients, carrier oils, essential oils or fragrances. The advantage of these types of shampoo is that they work for all types of hair by adapting the ingredients to your own particular needs.

The formulation of this shampoo is clean and relatively simple and contains mild surfactants which give the cleaning power to shampoo. In addition to its cleaning ability it also has both aloe vera and glycerin which bring hydration to the hair.

Used alone, it washes the hair thoroughly and foams lavishly, leaving your hair gorgeously clean after use. However, I prefer to multiply its effectiveness and add ingredients adapted to my hair type. My hair is unfortunately very fine and dry so for my personalised version I started by adding ingredients to enhance the moisturizing and smoothing effects. As I am on a mission to grow my hair I also added extra ingredients to help this happen faster. So here is my recipe:

→Recipe | Shampoo to stimulate the growth of your hair

3 tablespoons of neutral basis
1 teaspoon of glycerin (moisturizing and softening)
1 teaspoon of mustard oil (stimulates hair growth)
1 teaspoon of broccoli oil (smooth hair)
3 drops of bay st thomas essential oil (stimulates hair growth)

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl until everything is combined…….and your shampoo is ready! In the shower, massage your scalp well to promote and activate hair growth. I have definitely seen great improvements with this recipe as my hair is more supple, soft, light and clean.

Nourishing Hair Care Basis Basis

Just like the shampoo, this mask is completely customizable and suitable for all types of hair. You can add active ingredients, carrier oils, essential oils, plant powders and loads more. It can serve as a mask before shampooing, as a conditioner or as a leave-in!

It’s formulation is impressively clean and inviting containing plenty of nourishing and softening ingredients such as argan oil, shea butter, coconut oil and jojoba oil. However it also contains moisturizing ingredients including aloe vera and glycerine, literally a near perfect mix to take care of your hair.

Used alone or with ingredients this mask is superb! I tried using it before and after shampooing and it’s remarkable. It rinses away ridiculously easily and leaves my hair gloriously soft, moisturized and bright. Even though the formulation is rich in nourishing ingredients it doesn’t weigh down my hair at all. On the contrary in fact, my hair seems lighter and more flexible which is important for anyone like me who has delicate fragile hair. Once again I decided to turbo boost my recipe for this mask to really help grow my hair faster.

→Recipe | Mask To stimulate hair growth

2 tablespoons of the mask
3 tablespoons of kapoor kachli ayurvedic powder (tones the scalp and stimulates hair growth)
1 tablespoon of mustard oil (stimulates hair growth)
4 drops of ylang ylang essential oil (brings strength and shine)

In a bowl, mix the kapoor kachli powder with hot water until a uniform texture is obtained before adding the rest of the ingredients and mixing again. The mask is ready! Leave for at least 2 hours and then shampoo and rinse :)

In conclusion, if you are looking for a really effective but affordably priced natural mask and shampoo, I would highly recommend trying them! I would also definitely advise adding ingredients and testing loads of different combinations until you find the perfect mix as then you will have your own personalised and bespoke hair products tailored perfectly to your needs. That is something I never would have dreamt was even possible when I used conventional ranges and is the real beauty of using basis products for me! Oh and don’t forget to always try to choose your ingredients according to your specific needs and desires for the best results! You can find these products here.

Have you ever tested Waam basis products? What did you think?
