Every weekend I like to spend few hours just pampering myself, especially during winter! It’s very cold out there and I much prefer staying at home with a blanket and a cup of tea than confronting the cold weather!
One of my favorite pampering routines is an indulgent facial herbal steam!! It’s a great way to relax and unwind after a busy and stressful week at work. This facial steam is not only relaxing but also provides huge benefits to my skin, clearing my pores of excess oil, dirt and bacteria whilst simultaneously soothing my skin and boosting hydration.
So I thought I would share with you the below recipe that works wonders on my skin………as well as my mind. All you need is some hot water, a towel, a bowl and the following herbs:
2 tsp dried lavender
1 tsp dried calendula
1 tsp dried lemon balm
1 tsp dried chamomile flowers
1 tsp dried rose petals
1/2 tsp dried peppermint
Cleanse and exfoliate your face (this allows any products applied after the steam to penetrate the skin better).
Place the herbs with boiled water into a bowl and allow to cool for a few minutes.
Sit comfortably and place a towel over your head to create a steam tent.
Keep your face about 30 cm from the bowl.
Breathe deeply, relax and enjoy (it smells so lovely).
Stay over the steam for 5 minutes.
When finished put some toner on a cotton pad and wipe it over your face to remove all the dirt.
Follow up by applying eye cream and moisturiser.
……….and voila!!! I love how glowing and fresh my skin looks afterwards.
One more thing, don’t throw away the water as it’s full of goodness, just pour it in a bottle and use it as a toner! Keep it in the fridge for 3 days max.
What are your favourite ways to relax and unwind? Have you ever tried a home steam facial? If yes which herbs do you use?
So exited about this DIY !
Your blog is lovely, I hope a new post soon <3
