While I was on holiday in Los Angeles I went a bit crazy in Detox Market, I would describe it as shopping heaven for anyone who is interested in green beauty. It’s even more exciting for someone from Europe as there are so many American beauty brands that we just don’t get here. I shared my entire haul on an earlier blog post and since I returned from California I have now managed to test most of all these beauties. However, I really want to focus on one purchase that blew my mind, the Josh Rosebrook Masks! God they are so bloody good!!
Active Enzyme Exfoliator – I absolutely love exfoliating products; powders, liquids and pastes of all types of textures. They always end up being part of my skincare routine as they work so brilliantly. They get rid of dead skin cells and keep pores unclogged while at the same time making serums, eye creams and moisturisers work better and more effectively. This product has managed to squeeze its way into my top exfoliation products (even though I find the look of it to be seriously uninviting). The texture of it is really gooey and the color is definitely not the nicest thing I have ever applied to my skin. This was hammered home when my boyfriend walked into the house the other day and was more than a bit scared and asked me “what the hell did you put on your face”? However (ignoring his hugely uneducated opinion) this exfoliator has a really nice herbal smell, is really gentle and does a great job so ultimately who cares about the aesthetic when something performs that well.
So if you are interested here is how I use this product: I apply it to my clean face and for a few minutes gently rub the product in small circular motions before leaving it on for 30 minutes to 1 hour. The first thing I really love about this product is that its main ingredient is honey! As you may already know honey is a natural antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal which makes it an excellent ingredient for acne prone skin. It also help improves skin tone whilst repairing and protecting the skin. To make me feel even more enticed by this product It’s also not the only nice ingredient as this mask is full of so much goodness; Papaya and walnut shells act as an exfoliant while ingredients like Neem, Chamomile, and Stevia detoxify, soothe, and brighten the skin. It also contains a blend of moisturising and nourishing oils like Avocado Oil and Jojoba Oil. It seems like all Josh Rosebrook products contain a long list of amazingly good ingredients! I urge you to have a look at his website so that you can understand what I mean! In conclusion, I love this product, as after I rinsed off the mask it left my skin feeling clean, fresh and looking so much healthier and my skin looked so radiant afterwards.
Cacao Antioxidant Mask I was really surprised when I opened this pot as what I found was a very thick dark brown texture, It’s basically like opening a pot full of dark chocolate fondu (which is usually one of my favourite events if I am perfectly honest). Being a chocolate junkie my first thought was just to eat it but I am glad I resisted!! The smell really didn’t help this urge at all. Oh god it just smelt sooo chocolatey and good that I wanted to put my fingers in it and lick it (not sure if that sounds dodgy……pretty sure that sounds dodgy). Leaving the whole “I wanna eat the chocolate goodness’’ thing on one side……..this mask works amazingly! Just one use and I noticed the difference right away, my skin was smoother, moisturised, brighter and glowing! I ended up with a baby soft skin with my face feeling a bit tight but in a good way, it was like I had a little lift! My skin was plumped up and looked gorgeous and trust me, it’s always really hard for me to ever say my skin is beautiful hahahahaha. I’m not exaggerating though, this mask is incredible! I would credit this incredible product to it’s hugely impressive ingredient list which is formulated with Cacao Powder (obviously^^), Almond Oil, Marula Oil, Baobab Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Turmeric, Calendula, beetroot, lavender etc…the list still goes on and on with beautiful organic ingredients. It is recommended that you should apply this mask for 45 minutes. It feels tight on the skin, similar to a clay mask, when it dries and you will notice a warm sensation. When it’s time to remove it though it can get a bit messy especially if you attempt to remove it over a sink. I find it to be much more convenient to try and remove it when you have a shower. At first your skin will look a little red like you’ve spent a bit too long under the sun but don’t panic as this is perfectly normal and mostly due to the cacao (which is rich in antioxidants) doing its magic by helping to increase blood flow. I’ve tried some cacao based masks before but nothing has ever given me this kind of result. This mask totally deserves its great reputation as I truly now understand what all the fuss is about. All I can say is that I highly, highly recommend it.
I want to add another quick recommendation too as a good friend of mine who has terribly sensitive, delicate skin tried both of these masks and has not a single problem! So if you have a similar skin type I think they will totally suit you. So, as with everything in life there always has to be a downside, so now to the bad part……these masks are a hugely pricey $60 each!!!! However after seeing the results I personally think it is totally worth it but if you can only manage to afford one of these masks I would suggest that you go for the Cacao Antioxidant!
As well as these masks I also purchased some Josh Rosebrook hair products that I haven’t started using yet but I really hope that they are as good as these masks! I just can’t wait to try them out. Have you tried any of these Josh Rosebrook products? Which one would you recommend to me?
